The Steampod delivers a continuous steam flow for a uniform effect. The double technology plates provide high resistance. The integrated comb untangles the hair during styling and keeps it in place. The Steampod has 3 heat settings from 180° to 210° and is suitable for fine to thick hair.
Why the Steampod?
The L'Oréal Steampod; many beauty enthusiasts know it, but what does it actually do? The Steampod is a hair straightener that can be used to straighten or curl your hair. It differs from other hair straighteners because the Steampod works with steam. Therefore, the Steampod has a reservoir that needs to be filled with water (distilled water, because otherwise, lime will form in the reservoir and you don't want that!).
The Steampod was developed by L'Oréal in collaboration with Rowenta and is available in two versions: the retail version for home use and a salon pro variant for professional use in the salon. The difference is that the salon variant has a larger reservoir, so you don't have to refill it as often, and it has a holder where you can store the Steampod. The salon variant is quite bulky and therefore not recommended for home use, unless you have a huge cabinet in the bathroom!
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Steampod
Nothing is perfect! The Steampod also has some disadvantages:
- Compared to another flat iron, it is quite large and feels a bit heavier in the hand. Some ladies find this less comfortable, so keep that in mind when purchasing!
- It requires more storage space than another flat iron, this is due to the reservoir, so it is also difficult to take it with you, for example in your suitcase.
- To ensure the longevity of your device, you need demineralized water and ideally at least one of the recommended products for heat protection. Not every heat protector is suitable for the Steampod (due to the steam).
But also many advantages:
- You can use it regularly, it does not damage your hair.
- If your hair is already damaged, the Steampod is actually the best choice among all flat irons!
- It is suitable for all hair types, so you do not need to search for a flat iron specifically for thick hair!
- It is a flat iron and curling iron in one.
- It cares for your hair because the steam penetrates into the hair fibers.
Note: Use only demineralized water, it can be warm or cold.
