What is aftershave?

Aftershave is a grooming product that you use before, during, and/or after shaving. It calms the skin and helps the pores close back up after shaving, reducing the chances of skin irritation, dryness, and redness. Aftershave contains disinfectant agents, often alcohol, which disinfect the small cuts caused by shaving and prevent or reduce a burning sensation.

Additionally, aftershave has a delightful scent and is often used as a fragrance. Due to its lower percentage of fragrance components, aftershave is often more affordable. Luxury perfume brands are also increasingly recognizing the importance of aftershave, such as Paco Rabanne or Jean Paul Gaultier.

Aftershave balm or cream

Aftershave balm or cream has a moisturizing and soothing effect on the skin, preventing it from feeling dry. Aftershave balm or cream often does not contain alcohol and is therefore particularly suitable and comfortable for dry skin.

Aftershave lotion

Aftershave lotion has a lower oil content and is lighter than aftershave balm or cream. It moisturizes and refreshes the skin, leaving it smooth and supple. The scent of an aftershave lotion is generally stronger than that of an aftershave balm or cream and lasts longer.
