Makeup Base

Applying a base before using further makeup helps protect the skin from any potential effects makeup may have on the skin. Apply the base, such as a primer, after applying your day cream. Use this before applying foundation, powder, blush, or concealer. The makeup base in the form of a primer is often transparent and does not provide coverage. It ensures that the skin becomes velvety and smooth.

What is a Primer?

A primer is an ideal base for your makeup. Primer evens out the skin. This is great if you have lines, enlarged pores, impurities, or bumps, for example. A primer smooths the "canvas" of your makeup, making it easy to apply makeup. The makeup "glides" over the skin. Your makeup won't settle into fine lines or clump up. A primer also helps your makeup stay in place better and longer. Especially if you have very oily or dry skin, you may experience makeup that doesn't stay put. Using a primer as a makeup base is a good solution.

Types of Primers

Like any makeup product, there are different types of primers. Not everyone has the same skin type or the same preferences. It's a personal preference for which type of primer you choose. There are primers that give the skin a matte look, but also primers that provide extra hydration to the skin. Many different makeup brands have a primer in their range. So if you're a big fan of a particular makeup brand and want to use a primer, see if they have a suitable primer for you!

How to Apply a Primer?

Before applying a primer, it's important to cleanse your skin thoroughly. Then, use your usual day cream. Wait for it to absorb. Then apply a small amount of primer to the skin. Be careful not to use too much. Allow it to absorb for a moment and then start your makeup routine. You will notice that you can apply your concealer and/or foundation much easier and faster!
