Styling tips
Not sure which styling product to use? Beauty Plaza has compiled a list of the most popular products and their usage instructions.
Hairspray
There are many types of hair spray available, ranging from strong hold, extra strong hold, to flexible hold. Choose the strength that suits your hair type. If you have fine hair, opt for a moderate strength. If you have thick hair, such as curls, you may need a stronger spray. Hairspray is used to finish off the hairstyle; a fixing layer to keep it in place.
Hold the spray can about 25 cm from the hair and spray the hairspray on the hair. Do not apply too much, as this will make your hair hard and sticky. After applying the hairspray, you can further style your hair with your hands.
Wax
Hair wax is the go-to styling product for short hair. With wax, you can create a real out-of-bed look, but it can also be used to subtly style the hair. Wax comes in various types and sizes: with shine, without shine, extra strong wax, or flexible paste. Before use, make sure your hair is sufficiently dry. Take some wax out of the jar and spread it over both hands, take your time to warm up the wax. Spread the product over your hair, but avoid applying too much around the roots. Don't use too much wax at once, as it can accidentally end up in one spot. The advantage of wax is that it is softer than gel, making it easier to touch up your hairstyle later in the day, often without requiring additional wax.
Gel
Hair gel is a real fixation product. It is firm and does what it's meant to do; keep the hair in place. Only use gel if you have short hair, as that's what it's made for. Apply gel to dry hair, as wet hair will dilute the gel. The amount of gel you need depends on what you want to do with your hair. If you want to style the whole hair, use a bit more gel. If you want to fix only the tips, use less gel. Take some gel and spread it over the palms and fingers of both hands. Now run your hands through your hair and style it in the desired shape.
Hair Cream
Hair cream is ideal for protecting and nourishing the hair. It can be used on towel-dried hair after washing, or on dry hair as well. It provides a shiny and well-groomed appearance. There are different types of hair cream for different hair types, so choose the cream that is suitable for your hair. For example, there are creams for curly hair or creams for creating smooth hair. As with all styling products, do not use too much. If you are using a cream from a pump bottle, 2 to 3 pumps should be enough for the care of long hair. Distribute the cream evenly through the hair, from lengths to ends. Once the cream is evenly distributed, you can continue with the rest of your styling routine. Creams are generally used mainly for medium to long hair.
Mousse
Like other styling products, there is also a wide range of mousse products available. Mousse is especially suitable for giving the hair volume and shaping it. Make sure the hair is moist to towel-dried. Shake the can well before use and take a small amount on your hand; too much mousse will not make the hair look better. Because the can is shaken well, a nice, airy ball of mousse will be formed. Distribute the mousse over both hands and then over the hair. Start at the top of the head, but try not to touch the scalp too much and continue until the tips are also covered. For extra volume, bend your head forward and apply the mousse upside down. Once you have massaged the mousse into the hair, you can continue with blow-drying the hair.
