The Fragrance Notes of Perfume

Fragrance notes consist of different layers that create a beautiful scent. These layers are divided into three notes. When wearing your perfume, you may notice that it smells different at the end of the day than it did at the beginning. This is because the three fragrance notes continue to develop throughout the day.

• Top notes (the first impression): The perfume opens with the top notes. This is the first scent you will smell. It is the most dominant at first and can usually be noticed for up to an hour.
• Heart notes: After the top notes fade, you begin to smell the heart notes. These are the core of the fragrance and help extend the freshness of the top notes. You can often smell these for up to six hours.
• Base notes: The base notes add depth and warmth to the fragrance. Sometimes you can still smell them days after wearing the perfume. They ensure the long-lasting character of the scent.

Now that you know which fragrance family you like, it is important to consider what you want to express. Your scent plays an important role in a first impression. Strong and independent women are often associated with spicy or woody fragrances. These scents are perfect for a date or a night out. If you have a job interview, it is best to choose a fresh fragrance, as it conveys alertness and confidence.

What Is the Difference Between Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne?

The difference between these three variants lies in the intensity and concentration of the fragrance essence.

Eau de Parfum

Eau de Parfum has the highest fragrance concentration. This variant contains approximately 20 to 40% fragrance ingredients. It is therefore also the most expensive option compared to Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne. With an Eau de Parfum, you only need to apply a small amount, and you will smell the fragrance throughout the entire day.

Eau de Toilette

Eau de Toilette is currently one of the most popular options among the three variants. It appeals to a wide audience of both men and women. It contains about half the concentration of fragrance ingredients compared to Eau de Parfum. The scent is lighter and will not last all day, so you may want to reapply it during the day.

Eau de Cologne

Eau de Cologne is most commonly found among men’s fragrances. This variant has the lowest concentration of fragrance ingredients and is known for its light and fresh scent. Of course, Eau de Cologne is also available in women’s fragrances.

Which variant you choose is entirely up to you. If you are looking for a powerful fragrance that lasts all day, choose Eau de Parfum. If you prefer something lighter and fresher, Eau de Toilette is the perfect option.

Where to apply perfume?

You apply perfume to warm areas of the body, where blood vessels lie close to the surface of the skin. Perfume needs warmth to evaporate properly. Spray your perfume on the neck and throat, on the wrists, behind the ears and on your décolleté.

In addition to perfume, the fragrance category also includes scented candles, reed diffusers, fragrance oil and home fragrance.

How do reed diffusers work?

Reed diffusers typically last around 3 to 6 months. Remove a few sticks if the scent is too strong, for example in a small space like a toilet. Turn the sticks upside down every now and then to refresh the fragrance.

How to use fragrance oil?

You use a by placing it in an oil burner. This helps disperse the scent throughout the room. A tealight underneath the burner gently heats the oil so it evaporates. Always let fragrance oil evaporate in combination with water. Fill the dish with water and add about 3 to 4 drops of oil.

You can also pour fragrance oil into a bottle with rattan sticks to create the same effect as traditional reed diffusers.

How do you use room spray?

Room spray is very easy to use. Simply spray it a few times into the room. You can use it in any space you like, such as your living room, toilet, bedroom, hotel room, infrared sauna or massage salon.
